About our panel doors

A panel style kitchen door is a traditional framed door: like a shaker, but with extra detail, such as a shaped moulding where the frame meets the centre panel or fine lines cut into the frame. It suits country and classic kitchens.

Prefer a plainer frame? Our shaker doors have one clean step down to the panel. Buxton and Rowen sit in between, with a small bead along the step.

Which panel range is right for you?

Our 5 panel ranges differ in the detail round the centre panel.

  • Paris: a square-cut channel round the panel, which draws two crisp, straight lines instead of a curve. A little cleaner and more modern than Carlton.

  • Carlton: an 80mm flat border that curves down to the panel and finishes in a small bead, so the panel looks framed in layers.

  • Harlem: an 80mm flat border that slopes down to the panel. It gives the look of a classic raised and fielded door, in a simpler form.

  • Tullymore: a 99mm frame round a recessed centre panel, with two fine beads running round near the outer edge for a neat, traditional border.

  • Helmsley: a 108mm frame with a small bead at the step and a second fine line cut into the frame, so it looks like a frame within a frame.

Sizes, colours and finishes

Every door and drawer front is 18mm vinyl-wrapped MDF, made to your sizes. Doors are made up to 2540mm high and 1200mm wide, and drawer fronts from 60mm high. Not sure how to measure? Follow our step-by-step measuring guide.

Choose from over 50 colours in five finishes: Supermatt, Paint Flow Matt, Satin, Woodgrain and Paint Ready. Paint Flow Matt has a light brushed texture, so it looks like a hand-painted door. Satin has a soft sheen, and Woodgrain has the look of real wood. Paint Ready is wrapped in a paintable vinyl, ready for you to paint or spray in any colour you like.

Carlton, Harlem and Paris also come in high gloss, in White, Cream, Light Grey, Dust Grey and Cashmere.

Drawer fronts are plain on Carlton, Harlem and Paris. Helmsley carries its fine line onto drawer fronts from 121mm high, and Tullymore its beaded border onto drawer fronts from 100mm high and wide. Very narrow doors are made plain, because the moulding needs a minimum width: 240mm on Carlton and Paris, 260mm on Harlem, 265mm on Helmsley. Tullymore doors under 240mm keep the beaded border but have no centre panel. Each product page says what applies to that range.

Questions about panel kitchen doors

Will panel doors fit my IKEA or Howdens units?

Yes, every door is made to the sizes you give us, so it fits Howdens, IKEA, Magnet, B&Q and other standard units. Add your hinge positions to your order and we'll drill the holes for free.

How do I measure for new panel doors?

Measure the height and width of each door and drawer front in millimetres, and check every size twice. Our measuring guide takes you through it step by step.

How much does it cost to replace panel doors?

Most kitchens cost about £850 to £2,100, depending on size:

  • Small kitchen, about £850: 10 doors, 3 drawer fronts, 1 plinth, 13 handles, 20 hinges
  • Medium kitchen, about £1,350: 15 doors, 4 drawer fronts, 2 plinths, 19 handles, 30 hinges
  • Large kitchen, about £2,100: 25 doors, 5 drawer fronts, 3 plinths, 30 handles, 50 hinges

Your exact price shows as soon as you enter your sizes on a door's page.

What's the difference between panel and shaker doors?

Both have a frame round a centre panel that sits lower than the frame. On a shaker door it's one plain step down to the panel. A panel door adds detail at that step (a curved or angled moulding, a square channel, or fine beads), so it looks more traditional.

Do panel drawer fronts have the same detail?

On Carlton, Harlem and Paris the drawer fronts are plain, as in most panel kitchens. Helmsley drawer fronts have its fine line from 121mm high, and Tullymore drawer fronts have the beaded border from 100mm high and wide.

Can I paint panel doors?

Yes, if you choose the Paint Ready finish. It's wrapped in a paintable vinyl, ready for you to paint or spray in any colour you like, and it comes in all 5 panel ranges.

How long until panel doors arrive?

About 15 working days from your order. It can take a little longer around Easter, the summer holidays and Christmas, and we'll let you know if it does.
