Open each door and measure the flat back in millimetres, height first and then width. It's the door you measure, not the cabinet opening. Write each size down as you go. Our measuring guide takes you through it step by step.

Yes, that's the whole idea. If your cabinets are sound (dry, square and not swollen), your new doors and drawer fronts go straight onto them. Your worktops, sink and appliances stay where they are, so there's no ripping out and no weeks without a kitchen.

Yes, every door is made to the sizes you give us, so it doesn't matter who made your kitchen. Measure your old doors carefully and your new ones will fit. We'll also drill the hinge holes for free, in the same place as on your old doors.

Doors come in sizes from 283mm to 2540mm high and drawer fronts from 60mm to 282mm high, both from 100mm to 1200mm wide.

Some ranges need a minimum width to fit their design, so a narrower door in those ranges comes plain. You'll find the minimum on each range's page.

Not really, because every kitchen manufacturer uses its own sizes. To save you time, our order form lists popular sizes, which cost a little less. If yours isn't there, type in your own. Either way, your doors are made for you.

That's on purpose. Each door needs a small gap all round so it can open and close without catching the one next to it. It's also why we ask you to measure your old doors rather than the cabinets.

The three we see most are measuring the front of the door instead of the flat back, measuring in centimetres or inches instead of millimetres, and using a cloth tape, which stretches, instead of a metal one. Checking every size a second time catches almost everything else, and it can save you a lot of time and money.

No, we don't measure or visit homes. Our guides show you exactly what to do, and if you're still unsure, a friend or someone who fits kitchens can give you a hand. You can always email or call us before you order, and we'll talk it through with you.

Every door is made to your sizes, so we can't reuse it or sell it to anyone else. That means we can't take it back for a measuring mistake. So read your order confirmation carefully. If you spot a mistake before your order goes into production, email us and we'll put it right.

And if the mistake is ours, we replace it at our cost.

Yes, and it's free. Send us one photo of your kitchen, choose a style and colour, and we'll email you a picture of your own kitchen with the new doors. It's usually back within a few hours, and always by the next working day. Get your free kitchen visualisation.

We have 26 ranges in five styles.

• Shaker, a flat frame round a recessed centre panel.
• Panel, a traditional framed door, with a moulding or fine lines round the centre panel.
• Grooved, the look of a frame or tongue-and-groove, with grooves cut into a level face.
• Slab, completely flat, with no frame. Only the edge changes.
• Handleless, where the grip is built into the door, so there are no handles on the front.

More than 50, from whites and warm neutrals to greys, blues, greens, reds and wood effects. They come in Supermatt, Paint Flow Matt, Satin and Woodgrain, and some ranges also come in high gloss. Every range comes in the Paint Ready finish too, if you'd like to paint your own.

Ten of our ranges come in high gloss. They are Ashford, Cambridge, Carlton, Carrick, Harlem, Lincoln, Paris, Pisa, Richmond and Venice, and the gloss colours are White, Cream, Light Grey, Dust Grey and Cashmere. The back of each door is in a matching matt.

Yes, if you choose the Paint Ready finish. It's wrapped in a paintable vinyl, ready for you to paint or spray in any colour you like, and every range comes in it.

Yes, and we recommend it. A sample door costs £10 and comes with a swatch in your colour and free delivery. It usually arrives within 5 working days, and when you order your doors, we refund your sample. You can ask for up to two more swatches in the Special instructions box in your basket.

Yes, in every range and colour, so they match your doors. On most ranges the drawer fronts are plain and the design stays on the doors. Austin, Aysgarth, Euroline, Helmsley, Tullymore and Warwick carry their design onto the drawer fronts, and the five handleless ranges have the same grip on theirs.

On each door's page, choose a drawer front from the popular sizes, or enter your own sizes as made to measure.

Yes, order as many or as few as you need, even a single door. We can't promise a match with doors from another manufacturer, even in a similar colour, so if new doors will sit next to old ones, most people replace every door and drawer front on view. A sample door lets you compare before you decide.

Panels and trims in the same colours as our doors: plinths, end panels, T&G end panels, filler and appliance panels, cornice, corner posts and a multi-purpose rail. We also sell handles and Hettich soft-close hinges. We don't sell cabinets, worktops, appliances, sinks or taps. If it isn't part of a simple makeover, we don't sell it.

Every door is 18mm MDF, wrapped in vinyl and sealed on every face and edge, so it wipes clean. They're made in the UK by a manufacturer with FIRA International Gold Product Certification, and the range includes FSC® and PEFC certified colours.

Most kitchens cost about £850 to £2,100, depending on size:

• Small kitchen, about £850: 10 doors, 3 drawer fronts, 1 plinth, 13 handles, 20 hinges

No. Whether you need a whole kitchen or one replacement door, you can order it. Delivery depends on your order total, and it's free from £500.

The price you see is the price of your doors, and it includes free hinge hole drilling if you want it. The only thing added at checkout is delivery, which is free on orders of £500 and over. There are no hidden costs.

You can pay with all major cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay or Shop Pay. We take the full payment when you order. We don't offer finance or pay later.

No. We're not VAT registered, so there's no VAT on our prices. It also means we can't give you a VAT invoice.

Yes, until your order goes into production. Email contact@simplekitchenmakeover.co.uk with your order number and we'll change it, add items or cancel it, and send everything together at no extra delivery cost. Once production starts we can't change or cancel it, because everything is made to your sizes; anything you add then is a new order with its own delivery charge. We email you when your order goes into production.

About 15 working days from the day you order, because every door is made for you, not taken off a shelf. Around Easter, the summer holidays and Christmas it can take a little longer, and we'll let you know if yours will. We'll email you when your order goes into production and again when it's on its way.

A sample door usually arrives within 5 working days.

Yes. As soon as your order is on its way, we'll email you a tracking link.

Delivery is free on orders of £500 and over. Below that, it's £40 for orders from £125 to £499.99, and £25 for orders under £125. Sample doors are always delivered free.

We deliver across mainland UK, including Scotland, and to Northern Ireland. Some postcodes in the Scottish Highlands and Grampian need a quote, so please call us on 0141 266 0090 or email us before you order. We can't deliver to offshore islands. Not sure? The postcode checker in your basket will tell you straight away.

Yes, someone needs to be there to sign for it, you or an adult you trust. The driver will leave your order at the kerbside, on the driveway or at your front door, but can't carry it into your home, so you may want a hand with the boxes. If nobody's in, the courier comes back another day, and there's a charge for the second delivery.

If you need a particular day, ask us and we'll see what we can do.

Yes, most people do. You unscrew the old doors, fit the hinges to the new ones and screw them on. Allow about 10 to 15 minutes a door, plus a few minutes to line each one up, so most kitchens are done in a weekend. The part that takes a little patience is adjusting the hinges so every door sits straight.

Doors, drawer fronts and handles are jobs most people do themselves. End panels and filler panels sometimes need cutting to fit an uneven wall, and cornice needs a mitre saw, so they take more skill. If you're not 100% confident, get some help from a friend or someone who fits kitchens.

For doors, drawer fronts and handles you'll need a tape measure, a sharp pencil, masking tape, a screwdriver, a bradawl, and a drill with a 5mm bit for the handle holes. A handle jig is cheap and worth having, because it puts every handle in the same place.

Panels and cornice need a few more tools, and our guides list them for each job.

No, we supply the doors and deliver them to you, ready to fit. If you'd rather not do it yourself, a local joiner, a kitchen fitter or a handy friend can do it, and for most kitchens it's a day's work or less.

Please don't book anyone until your order has arrived and you've checked it.

Yes, if you'd like them, and it's free. When you order, choose the drilling side (left, right, top or bottom, as you look at the front of the closed door), and measure in mm from the edge of your old door to the centre of each hinge hole. Your new doors arrive with standard 35mm hinge holes, 13mm deep, in the same places, ready for your old hinges or our new ones.

If you'd rather drill them yourself, order your doors without hinge holes.

Either is fine. Reusing your old hinges costs nothing, but if they're sagging or not soft close, now is a good time to change them, while the doors are off. Ours are Hettich soft-close hinges with mounting plates, 110° for most doors and 165° for corner units, priced per hinge. You add them to a door when you order it with hinge holes. We recommend two hinges on doors up to 1000mm high, three on doors from 1000mm to 1700mm, and four on doors over 1700mm. On the order form, tick "Add centre hinge hole" for a third hinge, or "Add extra hinge holes" for four, and enter where each one goes.

No, and that's deliberate, so you can put each handle exactly where you want it. A handle jig makes the job quick and keeps every handle in line, and our guide shows you how.

No, we don't. Most councils offer a bulky waste collection, or you can take your old doors to your local recycling centre. If they're still in good condition, you could sell them or give them away locally.

Your doors, drawer fronts, panels, plinths and trims are guaranteed for 6 years, hinges for 20 years and handles for 1 year, from the day we deliver. The guarantee covers faults in how a product was made or in its materials. It doesn't cover accidental damage, normal wear and tear, heat or steam damage, or problems caused by fitting.

If you're not sure whether something's covered, ask us.

Our doors are sealed on every face and edge, but no vinyl door likes direct heat or steam. To protect yours, fit heat deflector strips to the doors or panels beside your oven or range cooker, with a gap for the heat to escape, and keep your kettle and toaster where the steam won't hit a door. Using your extractor fan when you cook helps too.

Heat damage without deflector strips, and steam damage over a dishwasher or washing machine, aren't covered by the guarantee, so it's worth doing from day one.

Email us your order number, a short description of the problem and a few photos, and we'll take it from there. Please keep the item until it's sorted, as we may need to see it.

We pack every order carefully, but boxes do sometimes get knocked in transit. Count the boxes before you sign. If any look damaged, still accept the delivery, but write "packaging damaged" when you sign and take a photo. Usually the doors inside are fine, so then unpack and check everything.

Check everything within 72 hours of delivery. If anything is damaged, missing or not what you ordered, email us your name, order number and photos. If it's our mistake, we replace it at our cost. If you find a fault later on, still tell us. Your rights don't end after 72 hours.

Please don't drill, cut or fit anything until you've checked it, as we can't replace items that have been altered.

If your order hasn't gone into production yet, yes. Email us with your order number and we'll change it. Once production has started, your doors are already being made to your sizes, so a replacement would be a new order.

You can return handles and hinges. If you change your mind, tell us within 14 days of delivery, then send them back unused within another 14 days. There's no restocking fee, but you pay the return postage. We refund you to your original payment method within 14 days of receiving them.

Doors, drawer fronts, panels and trims are made to order for you, so we can't take them back if you change your mind. This doesn't affect your rights if something is faulty or wrong.

Our doors come with a 6-year guarantee, and that's the only figure we can promise. Our manufacturer has been making doors for over 30 years and still gets Christmas cards from customers with kitchens as old as that. Treat your doors well and they'll do the same for you.

Wipe them with a soft cloth and warm water with a little washing-up liquid, then with a clean damp cloth, and dry them. Avoid harsh chemicals, solvents, bleach, abrasive sponges, furniture polish and steam cleaners, and wipe up spills and cooking splashes straight away.

If you have high gloss doors, give the finish 7 days to harden fully after you peel off the protective film.
